29 Oct Co-Visions: The Magic of Light Science at Futuro Remoto 2024
On Saturday 19th of October the exhibition Co-Visions The magic of light science opened at Futuro Remoto 2024, with which Stella Battaglia collaborated as an artist and tutor on the design of an anamorphic object.
Co-Visions. The magic of light science is an experiment of scientific communication focusing on installations and products designed by students of the Master in Design for the Built Environment of the University Federico II of Naples. The exhibited prototypes were inspired by the students’ meetings with experts of physics, optics, visual perception, astrophysics, art and lighting design who provided detailed information on what is light, its optical properties, the cosmos’s structure and the amazing capacities of our visual system.
This project results not only from the collaboration with the Foundation Idis Città della Scienza , but also with prestigious institutions such as the Department of Architecture of the University Federico II of Naples, the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Florence – Course of Studies in Optics and Optometrics, the CNR National Institute of Optics and the Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems “Edoardo Caianiello”, the Inaf Observatory Capodimonte and the ADI – Association for Industrial Design of Naples, as well as with many artists and designers.
The idea of a network of projects that may be able to provide a contemporary response to the need to vulgarise scientific culture arose in a modular way from the single initiatives inspired by the interdisciplinary contamination. First of all, in 2022, Enlighting Mind, whose permanent exhibition is in Florence at the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
